29 February 2016: It's been a while, but we'd like to share some good news.
We're in the process of finalising the purchase of the land to build the Southern Hemisphere's first cryonic storage facility. Once the development application is approved, we can start construction!
We'll keep you updated as things progress.
SSA and CAA sponsored a visit from Alcor Medical Response Director Aaron Drake
Aaron Drake visited Australia and provided training to both professionals such as medical practitioners, and to interested laypersons on the latest cryonic preparation and transportation techniques using vitrification. These improved techniques better preserve the viability of patients during transport, and are useful not only for overseas cryonics patients but also within Australia to cope with the long distances in our country.
The plans are done, the red tape is cut, and we're closing in on a site
Mark has been working hard to get done everything that needs doing to actually build the facility.
He has engaged with a number of very helpful local councils around regional NSW to work through the administrative and legislative requirements, and has been working with architects and project managers to finish the facility plans and handle the logistics of construction.
We're very excited at being so close to actually buying the land and building the facility!
We are happy to announce that we're now incorporated as a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee, in New South Wales.
We currently have nine confirmed investors, and are in discussions with another two. Soon we'll have the magic number of ten, which will kick off the next stage of the project - selecting a piece of land and starting construction!
We're also building positive relationships with the NSW Department of Health, the Cryonics Institute, Alcor and KrioRus.
Have a look at our press release.
In December 2011 we held an online informational meeting to explain the origins of the project and the reasoning behind it, give an update on our current progress, and answer questions about the project.
It was held on Sunday 18 December 2011.
The meeting was recorded and is available at AnyMeeting.
